Pratap Pawar is new Chairman of MRUC

PUNE: Sakal Media Group Chairman Pratap Pawar has been elected as new Chairman of the Media Research Users Council (MRUC) while IPG Mediabrands India CEO Shashi Sinha has become its new Vice-Chairman.  

The announcement was made after the MRUC’s 25th Annual General Meeting held in Mumbai on Wednesday. Earlier, Pawar was the vice-chairman of the MRUC. He has taken over the charge from the outgoing chairman Ashish Bhasin. Pawar will lead the council for two years.  

Pawar has served on the boards of several prestigious Indian and international companies. He was also the President of Indian Newspaper Society (INS). 

In 2014, he was awarded Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian honour. Sinha, a veteran in the media and advertising industry, started his career with Parle. Later, he became the CEO of Lodestar. Currently, he is working with IPG Mediabrands India.  

MRUC established in 1994, has been conducting scientific surveys on various aspects of the media sector, the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) is among the biggest and most trustworthy survey done for newspaper readers. The members of the ‘MRUC’ benefit from these surveys and studies conducted from time to time. Newly elected Chairman Pawar thanked all members of MRUC and Bhasin for their support to the council.
